Our ‘Ultimate Guide to GDPR’ launches today
The General Data Protection Regulation will be enforceable starting in May 2018. Our new guide provides history, context and guidance.
Ready or not, here it comes. This spring, the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) will go into effect, with sweeping, unprecedented rules protecting the personally identifiable information (PII) of European Union (EU) citizens.
Because the law protects a user’s data no matter where it travels, American companies that handle data belonging to EU citizens are expected to comply.
The actual legislation is almost 100 pages long and covers nearly every aspect of personal data security and privacy. It offers compliance standards, but in some cases, it doesn’t prescribe the specific processes and procedures by which to attain them.
So, as the May 25, 2018, deadline for compliance draws near, there is still a lot of confusion. Just this week, a TrustArc/IAPP survey found that 84 percent of US companies expect to be ready, while Forrester predicted that 80 percent will not.
That’s why we’ve put together this guide to GDPR. This comprehensive guide addresses these topics:
- What is the GDPR?
- How it might affect American companies.
- How it might be enforced.
- What your company can do to prepare.
We’ll be keeping the guide current and updated, and we encourage you to submit any feedback and suggestions that you may have.
